Talk to most experts in Southeast Asia about the potential of ecommerce in the region and they’ll find common ground: the real bottleneck towards growth lies primarily in logistics that can’t keep up. Decrepit infrastructure, outdated customs processes, and the sprawling landscape all add up to a scenario notoriously murky to navigate. Indonesia, for example, is the largest internet market in Southeast Asia and it’s expected to drive the bulk of growth in ecommerce. Economic indicators are rosy and consumers have higher disposable incomes.Read More

DAVID HENDERSON IS THE CO-FOUNDER OF DRVR – A SOFTWARE THAT MONITORS KEY ANALYTICAL DATA FOR FLEET SUCH AS FUEL USAGE, TEMPERATURE, ROUTE TRACKING, AND DRIVER BEHAVIOUR METRICS.
Human Asia had the opportunity to conduct this exclusive interview with David.
TELL US HOW IT ALL STARTED FOR DRVR. WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO GO INTO TELEMATICS?
David: Five years ago I was General Manager of Telematics at Intelematics Australia (IA) – the leading provider in Australia for the auto OEM. We had the then mayor of Jakarta Mr. Jokowi visit our office and beg us to set up in Indonesia. Every week I had calls from businesses and even governments across Asia requesting the same sort of thing. Clearly there was huge demand.
Several times I took opportunities to the IA board but they were not interested – too risky! I had introduced a hungry startup mentality to IA, and myself and some colleagues decided we can do this ourselves. We left and formed DRVR to solve the big problems.
The Directors of Kollakorn Corporation Limited (ASX: KKL) are pleased to announce that Kollakorn has signed a teaming agreement with Driver Design Studio Limited (“DRVR”). DRVR is a Hong Kong based company founded by three entrepreneurial Australian business men, which operates out of Thailand, Myanmar, Hong Kong and Australia.
DRVR provides a software platform that uses data, centred on transport and operational patterns, to help businesses improve the cost and efficiency of their transport fleets, deliver better customer service and gather critical data to help them grow.
While DRVR operates in the same business segment as Kollakorn, it uses different technology and offers a different, but very complementary product.
Like Kollakorn, DRVR’s focus is on the ASEAN Region and DRVR operates principally out of Thailand. DRVR is initially focusing its business in Thailand and Myanmar but eventually will expand its focus to all of the ASEAN Region

Thailand-based DRVR has joined forces with Internet of Things connectivity provider M2M Intelligence to connect fleets of vehicles globally. The fleet analytics business will work with M2M Intelligence to tackle cross-border telecoms and increase operational efficiency as the business continues to expand across south east Asia.
DRVR’s platform allows businesses to monitor their fleet in real-time to gather valuable insights in areas such as vehicle performance and driver behaviour.
M2M Intelligence will provide an end-to-end IoT connectivity solution. Enabling full visibility over the SIM estate provided via the INSIGHT management platform will help DRVR control its growing number of connected ‘things.’ This level of transparency reduces risk by ensuring all IoT devices are functioning as anticipated. The platform also lowers costs by allowing DRVR to closely align payment to actual usage.
David Henderson, co-founder and CEO of DRVR, said: ‘‘As the telematics market in Asia continues to grow, we needed an international partner that could provide reliable connectivity to support our growth. This is essential to ensure we can keep up with the pace of innovation.
“M2M’s Intelligence portal INSIGHT is completely unique – there’s nothing on the market like it. Without it, we run the risk of losing vast amounts of time manually managing spreadsheets, and the majority of this work was guesswork. With it, we have complete visibility of our data consumption combined with reliable connections and great coverage. It’s a win-win.’’
Paul Bandell, co-founder and director at M2M Intelligence said: " Our global multi-network solution is continuing to help take clients into new territories, helping create some really exciting new business opportunities. We’re delighted to be working with DRVR and look forward to seeing how our solution helps them grow in new markets.”
